To review:
The method to avoid the placebo effect in a new drug test.
Introduction:
A placebo is a false treatment that looks like the real treatment, but is not. A placebo does not contain the active substrate that is supposed to help the treatment, it can be a sugar pill that looks exactly like a real capsule or an injection containing just water. During the clinical study, researchers give placebos to a specific group known as a placebo group to compare the effectiveness of the new drug that is given to another group known as the treatment group. It allows researchers to understand what would happen if the drug is not given.

A. Superficial blood vessels dilate, and the thyroid decreases metabolism. B. Superficial blood vessels constrict, and the thyroid decreases metabolism. C. Superficial blood vessels dilate, and the thyroid increases metabolism. D. Superficial blood vessels constrict, and the thyroid increases metabolism.arrow_forwardIn some diseases, an infection causes a high fever, resulting in a crisisstate. Once body temperature begins to return to normal, the person ison the way to recovery. - who does the cells work with in the body?arrow_forwardWhen you step outside in the cold, your body temperature decreases; which causes shivering or contractions of your muscles. In this example, the shivering or contracting of the muscles, is what part of the feedback loop?arrow_forwardPatients with a history of heart failure may take a medication that keeps calcium in the cells longer. Why would having more calcium in the heart’s cells be beneficial in a patient experiencing heart failure?arrow_forward
