The organisms can survive for a long period in a particular environment only when they are able to adapt to the changes occurring in the external environment. All the living things are capable of sensing and responding to the changes. If the conditions in the internal environment are not maintained in a range, it leads to the death of the cell that makes up the body. Homeostasis is a process in which the conditions of the internal environment are kept in range.
