Answer to Problem 1QR

Climax vegetation refers to the assemblage of the plants that arise from succession over time. Human activities disrupt the ecological system due to the development of new technologies, which are responsible for the degradation of the natural ecosystem. The concept related to the climax vegetation in the succession was developed by the Frederic Edward Clements.

Explanation of Solution

The concept of Frederic Clements suggested that the physiographic and the climatic conditions are responsible for the type of vegetation that appeared in the succession. The vegetation could range from normal to the plants that are best suited to the local environmental conditions. For example, any kind of natural disaster in arid plains of Central Asia , such as, forest fire, hurricane can cause the loss of the total vegetation that suits best in that area.
