Concept explainers
To Review:
Three types of post transcriptional regulation.
Introduction:
The regulation of the gene expression after transcription is known as post transcriptionalregulation. It mainly deals with the maturation and the stability of mRNA.
Explanation of Solution
The three types of post transcriptional controls are:
Control of RNA splicing. The RNA splicing is the process of removal of the introns fromthe mRNA, if splicing is interrupted, translation cannot occur.Controlof RNA shuttling. In eukaryotes, the mRNA must be transferred to the cytoplasmto be translated, if this shuttling is interrupted, translation cannot occur.
Control of RNA stability. The mRNA formed by the transcription process should bestable, if the mRNA is not stable, it would be distorted and translation cannot occur.
The three types of post transcriptional controls are:
- Control of RNA splicing.
- Control of RNA shuttling.
- Control of RNA stability.
