Summary Introduction
To review:
The consequences for the mother, as a result of bleeding at the site of maternal–placental separation.
Introduction:
Abruptio placentae or the placental abruption is the medical term for the separation of the placenta before the childbirth. The placenta, in such a case, separates from the uterus early. Commonly, the placental abruption occurs around the 25th week of gestation. The fetus as well as the mother gets into life-threatening conditions as a consequence of placental abruption.
