Summary Introduction

To review:

The rationale behind using a saline solution in a patient suffering from hemorrhagic shock.

Introduction:

Blood is necessary for the functioning of the body as it transports oxygen and nutrients to various parts of the body. The brain starts malfunctioning if the oxygen supply is stopped even for 30 seconds. Therefore, it is extremely important for the blood supply to be continuous. This type of shock is known as hemorrhagic or hypovolemic shock. In this case, Mr. Malone is suffering from severe bleeding. There is a chance he might go in the shock due to blood loss, which can be fatal. In this case, as an emergency measure, it is necessary that the paramedic should infuse saline solution to the patient.
