Formula for distance between two points

d=x2-x12+y2-y12

Substituting the x and y co-ordinates

d=0-x2+2-y2

On solving this,

d=-x2+2-y2

d=x2+2-y2

Now, we have to find the distance between the point x, y and directrix y=-1.

d=y--2

d=y+2

Now, we have to equate both the distances
