Question
Chapter 10.3, Problem 1R
Summary Introduction
To review:
The experiments that led to the identification of 3-phosphoglycerate (3PG) as the initial product of carbon fixation.
Introduction:
Melvin Calvin and Andrews Benson set up an experiment to identify the reactions associated with the conversion of carbon from CO2 (carbon dioxide) in carbohydrates. They used radioactively labeled CO2 with radioisotopes of carbon. This experiment proved that 3PG is the initial product of carbon fixation.
