Chapter 11, Problem 14TYK
Summary Introduction

To review:

The experimental design to determine the adverse effect of a new pesticide launched in the market on egg production and fertilization in frogs.

Introduction:

The chemical contamination of soil and water may acts as a major factor in amphibian population decline. The effects of organic and inorganic chemical contamination on amphibians like frogs may also depend on other biotic and abiotic variables at the time of exposure like UV-radiation. The pesticide endosulfan is an organochlorine cyclodiene which is extensively used in the world. The oxidation product, endosulphan sulphate is frequently transported into riverine environments. Frog embryos and larvae generally develop under the heterogeneous environments, and the concentration of different chemicals affects the various life cycle stages.
