Concept Introduction:
Hydrogen atom has discrete energy levels. These are called principal energy levels. Each of these levels is subdivided into sublevels. Principal level 1 consists of one sublevel which is 1s orbital. Number 1 is for the principal energy level and s stands for the sublevel. Principal level 2 consists of 2 sublevels 2s and 2p. The 2s orbital consists of one orbital, and 2p consists of three orbitals (2px, 2py, 2pz ).
