What is the focus of most performance-tuning activities, and why does that focus exist?

Program Plan Intro

Performance-tuning activities:

A set of activities or procedure that is designed in order to ensure the queries requested by the end user is processed with the minimum amount of time.

Interaction between the end user and the database systems:

  • Users interact to the database system using queries.
  • Database system’s function is to provide timely answers to the requested user.
  • The request and response is made in the following order:
    • End user generates a query using the application present at the client side.
    • The query is being sent to the server that is to the Database system.
    • DBMS executes the query.
    • The result is send by the DBMS to the requested end user.

SQL performance tuning:

  • It is a process that takes place at the client side.
  • The process is generating a SQL query from the client side to return the correct answer at the minimum amount of time and resources from the server.

Database performance tuning:

  • It is a process that takes place at the server side.
  • The process is configuring the server that is the DBMS environment to respond to the request made by the client in a quicker way.
  • The process needs to be carried out by utilizing existing resources in the best way.

Explanation of Solution
