Concept Introduction: A hydrogen bonding is partially an electrostatic attraction between H atom which is bonded to more electronegative atom such as N, O, orF and another adjacent atom bearing a lone pair of electron.

If intermolecular force is small the vapor pressure of the substance is high and the boiling point will be low.

The boiling point is the temperature at which the vapor pressure is equal to the external pressure. If the external pressure is 760mmHg, then this temperature is called normal boiling point.

The specific heat capacity of a given substance depends on the strength of the intermolecular forces between the particles of the substance.
