Question
Chapter 11, Problem 5DQ
Program Plan Intro
Artificial Intelligence (AI) simulates thinking and behaves as human such as the capability of giving reason and learning.
- Its main aim is to develop a system which mimics human intelligence.
- It increases the speed and consistency of decision making, helps in solving the problems without lending complete information.
- The problems which cannot be solved by the conventional computing can be resolved using the AI system.
Components of Artificial Intelligence:
The six key components of AI are as follows:
- Expert systems
- Robotics
- Vision systems
- Natural language processing
- Learning systems
- Neural networks
Robot:
- A robot is nothing but a machine that is capable of doing complex actions automatically.
- It is programmable by a computer and guided by a control device.
- Similar to a computer, robots are linked with networks, software in order to increase its usefulness.
- A robot can identify people and objects. It also can talk; respond to alarms, carries supplies, etc.
Real time examples of robots:
Some of the real time robots in current use are as follows:
- Bionic Legs – It is an artificial leg that supports people with natural movement without requiring the user to intentionally control the joint.
- Hospital robots – They are sued to carry heavy materials.
- U.S Navy’s Bluefin 21 submarine – It is an underwater vehicle that is used in navy.
- Roomba vacuum – It is used to clean the floor and also it has its own bin to store the wastes.
- Dash and Dot – It is a learning program for kids.
