Difference between normal hemoglobin and sickle cell anemia hemoglobin and its effect on solubility has to be discussed.

Concept Introduction:

Sickle cell anemia is a disease caused by genetic disorder.  Sickle cell refers to elongated red blood cells which are of abnormal shape compare to the healthy red blood cells.  This disease suppresses the oxygen carrying ability of red blood cells.

Explanation

Hemoglobin is a macromolecule.  It is made of four chains – two α chains and two β chains.  Normal blood cells have hemoglobin in which polar functional groups are present.  The polar functional groups form hydrogen bonding and dissolve the red blood cells as solution that the red blood cells don’t move out of solution made of plasma, other constituents of blood
