hat is potential energy? What is kinetic energy? What do we mean by the law of conservation of energy? What do scientists mean by work? Explain what scientists mean by a state function and give an example of one.
Interpretation:
The potential energy, kinetic energy should be defined along with the law of conversation of energy,
Concept Introduction:
The property which is quantitative in nature and must be transferred to an object in order to heat the object and do work on the object is known as energy. Energy is a conserved quantity and can be classified as kinetic energy and potential energy.
In thermodynamics, two functions are used to identify the variables that are state functions and path functions. The function which depends upon the state of the reaction is known as state function whereas which depend upon the path of the reaction is known as path function.
The energy which is possessed by an object or material due to its composition or position with respect to other objects or material is said to be potential energy. It also occurs due to attractive forces and repulsive forces.
The energy which is possessed by an object or material due to its motion is said to be kinetic energy. Kinetic energy depends upon the mass and velocity of the object.
According to law of conservation of energy, energy can be transferred one form to another form but can be neither destroyed nor created...
