Introduction:

There are four specific properties of the cardiac cells, namely automaticity, contractibility, conductivity, and excitability. Apart from these properties, another important property is refractory periods. The refractory period includes the ionic composition of cells and the ability of the cells to accept a stimulus. There are three different types of the refractory period, namely absolute refractory period, nonrefractory period, and relative refractory period.
