Question
Chapter 1.2, Problem 8SSC
Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:  The reason for different branches of chemistry needs to be explained.

Concept introduction:  Chemistry is the branch of science. The study of structure, composition, properties of matter is known as chemistry. The word ‘chemistry’ evolved from ‘alchemy’. It is the part of the physical sciences which help to describe and interpret the world. It is the science of atoms/molecules and their transformations.

Answer to Problem 8SSC

The study of chemistry is a very comprehensive field, so chemists are experts in small areas. Chemistry has huge applications in every field.

Explanation of Solution

Each substance or compound or element has specific chemical and physical properties. Some compounds or elements do not have those characteristics, so they cannot be placed in a single branch of chemistry.

Chemistry gives a contribution to a great extent in the growth and development of the nation with a better comprehension of chemical principles.

There are 5 foremost branches of chemistry which are considered as inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, and analytical chemistry.

Inorganic chemistry:  In inorganic chemistry, compounds do not bear carbon-hydrogen bond (C-H bond). These compounds are not included in inorganic chemistry.

Biochemistry:  It is the study of chemical procedures within and correlating to living organisms. It sometimes also called biological chemistry.

Organic chemistry:  Compounds that have carbon are included in organic chemistry. It is the study of life and all chemical reactions associated with life.

Physical chemistry:  It is the branch of chemistry that related to the physical structure or composition of chemical compounds. It commonly contains the applications of quantum mechanics and thermodynamics to chemistry.

Analytical Chemistry:  It studies the instruments and techniques used to isolate, recognize, and quantify matter.

Conclusion

Chemistry occasionally called as "central science" because it connects another science, such as geology, physics, biology, and environmental science, so there are different branches of chemistry.
