To determine: If the cancer stem cell hypothesis undercut the idea that cancers have a clonal origin, or can these two ideas be reconciled.
Introduction: Stem cells are the undifferentiated mass of cells that continue to divide until specific signals lead to their differentiation. The differentiation results in the conversion of stem cells into a specific type of cells in a cell lineage. Cancer cells also show continuous division but these cells are differentiated cells and are harmful to the body.
