To illustrate: Three real-world examples of oscillatory motion.

Answer to Problem 1CQ

Three real-world examples of oscillatory motion are given.

Explanation of Solution

The repetitive, back and forth motion of an object about its mean position is regarded as oscillatory motion.

Three real-time examples of oscillatory motion are as follows:

  • The mass-spring system, which is basically a spring with a hanging mass. When a mass is hanged to a spring, it moves in an upward and downward direction continuously about its mean position and hence it is an example of oscillatory motion.
  • When the tennis ball is stricken, the motion of a tennis ball is an example of oscillatory motion.
  • Other examples of oscillatory motion are road bumps of washboard, a swinging pendulum, an AC voltage wave, and a beating heart.

Conclusion:

Thus, three real-world examples of oscillatory motion are given.
