Check Mark
To determine

The process of sheet steel workmanship samples tested in 15-1.

Explanation of Solution

The testing process in practice 15-1 is described below:

  • Take work metal of thickness 10 − 14 gauge thickness and make any joints such as tee joint, lap joint and butt joint. Tack welds the parts and put on the desired location on welding stand.
  • Start welding on the parts and make bead of thickness 3mm along the joint. Make changes if needed.
  • Cut the one inch wide strip from the weld by hack saw or thermal cutting torch.
  • Bend the strip of joint by vice and hammer.
  • Check complete fusion at the joint and check also for 100% penetration in the joint.

Repeat these process until good bead joint is formed. Turn off the machine after welding the entire joint and clean the area.
