Explanation

Sand dunes are the depositional landforms that formed as a result of wind action. They have a rather uniform cover of sand-sized particles displaying little surface relief. More commonly, deposits of sand due to wind action are accumulated in the shape of hills, mounds or ridges. The topography of dune is highly variable. The factors that control the formation of dunes include the amount of sand availability, the strength, and direction of sand-transporting winds, and the vegetation cover.
