Chapter 16, Problem 16.41E
Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

The options that correspond to the nuclei that will have an NMR spectrum are to be stated.

Concept Introduction:

Spectroscopy based on the splitting of Ml levels of a nuclei is termed as nuclear magnetic resonance or NMR. The splitting is due to the similar behaviour of nucleus as the electron. Like electrons, nucleus have nonzero spin and a magnetic dipole associated with it. This leads to splitting in an external magnetic field.

We calculated that the resonance frequency of an 1H in the presence of an 11.74 tesla magnet was 500MHz, and we later saw that a 13C nucleus resonantes at approximately 125 MHz in this same magnetic field. What is the resonance frequency of a 19F nucleus in the presence of an 11.74 tesla magnet?
