Answer to Problem 1E

Solution:

The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association is the panache manual of arms of choice for writer, editors, students, and educators in the social and behavioral sciences. It provides invaluable guidance on all aspects of writing physical process, from the ethics of composition to the word choice that best reduces prejudice in voice communication. It is well-known for its authoritative and easy-to-use source and citation system. The Publication Manual also offers guidance on choosing the headings, tables, figures, and tone that will be solvent in strong, simple, and elegant scientific communication.

Explanation of Solution

Following is the definition of the terms-

  • Plagiarism:

An investigator does not title the word and idea of another as their own; they should give credit where it is due. Credit grade should be used to indicate the exact words of another. Each time you paraphrase another author (i.e., summarize a passage or rearrange the order of a sentence and change some of the words), you need to credit the root source in the text. The basic idea is that writers should not represent work of another writer as their own work.

  • Author note:

An author note appears with each printed clause to identify each source's departmental affiliation, provide acknowledgments, state any disclaimers or perceived conflict of interest, and provide a point of touch for the interested reader. (Scholarly person should note that an author note is usually not a requisite for theses and dissertations.) Notes should be arranged as follows. Start with First paragraph: Complete departmental affiliation, then Second paragraph: Changes of affiliation (if any), then Third paragraph which focuses on acknowledgement and Special circumstances and lastly Fourth paragraph: Person to contact (mailing address, e-mail).

  • Subsection: It is always a good practice to divide the full section into subsections to make it more interesting and visually arranged. These subsections contain the complete description of the heading of the subsection. The definition of each subsection is as follows-
    • Subjects subsection:

These usually include a subdivision with verbal description of the participants or subjects.

    • Participants subsection:

This section includes the description about the participants included in the study.

    • Procedure subsection:

This section includes the detailed description of the procedure used in the study.

    • Apparatus subsection:

This section mainly focus on the equipments used for the study even if it is for data collection or statistical analysis.

    • Material subsection:

This describes the material used for the study.

  • Appendix:

Sometimes, material that supplements article content would be distracting or inappropriate in the body of the research paper. Material of this type can often be included in an appendix. An appendix is appropriate for materials that are relatively en- brief and that are easily presented. Appendix include the following sections- list of stimulus materials, detailed description of a complex piece of equipment, detailed demographic description of subpopulations in the study.

Justification:

Plagiarism is the important term in which the author should have keen eye while preparing their own journal or paper. There should be any copy of another author's work. It is an issue where copyright infringment takes place. Disclaimer should be there in each book's author notes column to safeguard publisher and author from copyright infringment. Using appendix section can give a clear idea of the supplements used to prepare the concerned article or paper.
