The mammary glands are actively present in the body of the females and are modified sweat glands. The function of the mammary glands in the production of the milk for providing nourishment to the newborn baby. The mammary glands of the female increase in size at the age of puberty in the females. The stimulus for the increased size of the mammary glands is given by the estrogens which is the sex hormone of the female.
