Interpretation:

The mechanism for the preparation of ketone from nitrile using Grignard reagent has to be given.

Concept introduction:

Grignard reagent: It is an organometallic compound that contains carbon magnesium bond.  The electronegativity difference between carbon and magnesium makes the bond more polar.  Grignard reagent useful in the synthesis of a desired organic compound that is not easily synthesis by other methods.  The grignardreagent can be synthesis by the reaction between magnesium turning with an organic halide with the desired group.  The Grignard reagent can act as a nucleophile and undergoes nucleophilic reactions.  Grignard reagent on reacting with nitriles gives a ketone.
