Introduction: A vaccine is a biological preparation, which contains either inactivated or dead pathogens, which are able to generate the immune response. A vaccine mediates the primary immune response in the body. There are various types of vaccine namely, live-attenuated vaccine, heat-killed vaccines, subunit vaccines, toxoid vaccine, and r-DNA (recombinant DNA technology) vaccines.

Explanation of Solution

Antigens can be any foreign particle which includes bacteria, virus, fungi, pollen and many more. More specifically antigen can also be called as protein sequences, which are foreign to the body. In the process of r-DNA technology, the vaccine is prepared by generating complementary sequences of the antigenic particle.

In case the vaccine is to be prepared against the virus, a cloned gene of the virus, which encodes for cell-surface protein is inserted into the bacterium genome. The bacterial genome would transcribe and translate specific protein for that virus...
