The Adaptive Immune Response Is a Specific Defense Against Infection

Identify the components of cellular immunity, and define their roles in the immune response.

Summary Introduction

To determine The components of cellular immunity and their role in immune response.

Introduction: The primary role of the immune system is to protect the body from antigens (foreign substance). There are two types of immunity: cellular immunity and antibody-mediated immunity. Antibody-mediated and cellular immunity is generated during a specific immune response.

Explanation of Solution

Components of cellular immunity include T-lymphocytes. There are two types of T-cellular: helper T-cells and Killer T-cells. The role of Helper-T cell and Killer T-cell in generating an immune response is described as follows:

  • Helper T-cell: Helper T-cells can recognize the antigen present in the bloodstream. After detecting the antigen, T-cell triggers the B-cell. B-cell activates and starts proliferating. Helper T-cell also activates the neighbouring T-cells to proliferate and mediate the response...
