The magnetic force is the force of attraction or repulsion which arises between the electrically charged particles because of its motion.

If the bar magnet is free to rotate, it will rotate until one end points to the south pole and other end points to the north pole, where the points are named as south-seeking and north-seeking pole. If the same poles of the two magnets are brought near, it creates repulsion. In general, same poles repel each other and opposite poles attract each other.

The presence of a magnetic force field may be detected by using:
