Explanation of Solution

Bulk deformation process is transformation of solid materials from one shape to another.

  • In bulk deformation process, the metal part can be able to attain a significant change in its shape when hot working is used.
  • When performed as a cold working operation, the strength of the metal part can be increased through strain hardening and also to shape the product.
  • Commercially this process will be very suitable, since only a small amount of waste or no waste will be obtained as a byproduct.
  • In case of net shape or near net shape process, this method is very helpful to obtain the final geometric shape of a part in a short duration by slight machining or no subsequent machining.
