Chapter 19, Problem 1RQ

Why is it necessary to keep lubrication records for motors?

Expert Solution & Answer
Check Mark
To determine

The necessity for keeping lubrication records for motors.

Explanation of Solution

Some electric motors contain sleeve bearings which require oiling periodically. The motors which have ball or roller bearings are lubricated with grease. The motors which contain sealed bearings do not require lubrication.

In order to maintain proper lubrication from time to time, a lubrication record is required to be prepared. A lubrication record is the best method of ensuring that motors are neither overlubricated nor never lubricated.
