How would you determine how a steroid hormone affects gene expression in human tissue culture cells?

Summary Introduction

To review:

The way by which it can be determined that the steroid hormone affects the gene expression in human tissue culture cells.

Introduction:

Steroid hormones are the steroids that behave as hormones. They are grouped into two classes- corticosteroids and sex steroids. Their receptors are mostly intracellular with respect to the location, that is, they are present inside the cell. They can directly affect gene expression. The most studied steroid receptor is the nuclear receptor.

Explanation

The DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) microarray technique can be used to analyze the gene expression. The mRNA (messenger ribonucleic acids) molecules are segregated from the cells that have been taken from the untreated tissue culture. They are treated with steroid hormones. Then, the cDNAs (complementary deoxyribonucleic acids) are prepared from the mRNA molecules with the help of the reverse transcriptase enzymes. The reverse transcriptase enzymes utilize the nucleotide precursors, which are fluorescent labeled. Two different types of fluorescent labels are used, one is green, which is for the untreated sample, and the other is red, which is for the experimental sample...
