Explanation

Given Information:

The provided table for sales figures of 3 month is:

Service category APRIL MAY JUNE CATEGORY TOTAL
Cutting, styling, coloring $13,515 $12,350 $14,290
Manicure, pedicure, waxing 5,418 7,640 5,756

Formula used:

Addition of any whole number can be done by the use following steps:

Step1: first write the provided whole numbers in columns so that place values of units, tens,

hundreds, thousands and so on is lined up.

Step2: add the digits in each column starting from the right.

Step3: when the total of the column is greater than 9, write the unit digit in that column and carry the tens digit to the top of the next left column.

Calculation:

Consider the provided whole numbers,

First write all the values of each service category of 3 months in columns so that the place values line up and use the above steps in formula to add each category.

So, for cutting, styling and colouring.

$13,515+$12,350+$14,920=$40,785

For manicure, pedicure and waxing.

$5,418+$7,640+$5,756=$18,814

For facials and makeup.

$4,251+$6,125+$56,740=$17,116

And for beauty supplies.

$8,690+$7,254+$10,346=$26,290

Hence, each category totals of sales comes out as $40,785, $18,814, $17,116, and $26,290 respectively
