Although Charles Darwin is well known for his contribution to the theory of evolution, many scientists prior to him have attempted to solve the mystery of evolution. The first scientist who explained the process of evolutionary change is Jean-Baptiste De Monet. He was also known as Chevalier de Lamarck.
