The segregation of Earth into layers of differing density.
Answer to Problem 1QR
Earth became segregated into layers of different density due to massive amount of internal heat within the Earth. The gravitational force and impact of energy also contribute to formation of layers.
Explanation of Solution
It has been noted that the substances of minimum density escaped to the surface and densest substances was pulled toward the center. The center of Earth is the densest and iron rich region, the inner core is a solid mass and the outer core is mostly liquid. Segregation of Earth into layers is occurred due to huge amount of heat within the Earth, radioactive isotopes and gravitational force pulls the Earth into layers of differing density.
In this way, the Earth has heavy metallic core which proceeds outward through layers of decreasing density and then eventually converted into continents, ocean and finally atmosphere.
