Introduction: Hormonal contraceptives are used to prevent pregnancy. They contain forms of estrogen and progesterone hormone (natural or synthetic form). They are of two types: combination hormonal contraceptives (in which both the hormones are present) and progestogen-only contraceptives (with only progesterone or a synthetic analogue (progestin)).
