Petroleum is a very valuable raw material for the synthesis of polymers. What if Congress decided that petroleum must be conserved as a raw material and could not be used as fuel? What could our society do for alternate sources of energy?

Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

If congress decided that petroleum must be conserved as a raw material and could not be used as fuel, what our society could do for alternate source of energy should be discussed.

Concept Introduction:

Petroleum has been formed from remains of dead plant and animal materials which lived billion years ago. Petroleum is composed of hydrocarbons containing 5- 25 carbon atoms. Petroleum can be found in deposits as crude oil, which is a mixture of different hydrocarbons. These hydrocarbons are fractioned at the oil refinery for further use. Ancient times, petroleum was used as lamp oil, but with the industrial revolution, use of petroleum widespread over many fields. But petroleum is not a renewable energy. It is being exhausted day by day.

Explanation

If the Congress decided, not to use petroleum as a fuel, we have to find alternate energy sources to fulfill our energy needs. There are various renewable energy sources like solar power, hydro power, wind, ocean, biomass, biofuel whi...
