. The text states that the key to DNA’s functioning is its double-helical structure with complementary buses on the two strands. Explain, with particular reference to how DNA is replicated.

Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

Interpret the replication of DNA.

Concept Introduction:

Polynucleic acid such as DNA or RNA produced from polymerization of the nucleotide joined to each other. The nitrogenous bases may be adenine, guanine, cytosine or thymine.

According to Chargaff rule, number of guanine present in a polynucleic acid is equivalent to number of cytosine present while number of adenine present in a polynucleic acid must be equivalent to number of thymine present and during unwinding bond between bases broken down to create fork like structure.

Explanation

DNA undergoes transcription to produce mRNA and it contains uracil in place of thymine. DNA helix get unwound from each other and results in formation of complementary strand of RNA.

The DNA produces new daughter DNA through the process of replication...
