Answer to Problem 1RQ

The two major types of proteins and their functions are as follows-

Catalyst the chemical reactions

Synthesis and repairing DNA

Transport materials across the cell

Receiving and sending chemical signals

Explanation of Solution

Protein is a macronutrient that is required by the body in large amounts that provides the body with energy in calories and is essential to building muscle mass.

There are two major types of proteins-

  • Fibrous
  • Globular

Function of proteins −

The catalytic proteins are known as enzymes. They are essential for chemical processes like digestion and cellular metabolism. They can increase or decrease the rate of the biochemical reaction.

Proteins are participating in the formation and repairing of the genetic material.

They act as a biological messenger for the human body.

Conclusion

Proteins are the major portion of the living things. There are two classes of proteins as fibrous and globular proteins.

Their functions are very important. They can affect the biochemical reaction. They carry the messages in the cell, and many more roles play by the proteins.
