In an RLC circuit, L = 5.0 mH, C = 6.0μF, and R = 200 Ω.
(a) Is the circuit underdamped, critically damped, or overdamped?
(b) If the circuit starts oscillating with a charge of 3.0 × 10−3 C on the capacitor, how much energy has been dissipated in the resistor by the time the oscillations cease?
In a standard RLC circuit that we are looking at
R = 0.075 Ω , L = 1.2 H and C = 1.6 F. The initial charge carries by the capacitor is Q0 = 0.045 C. The switch is closed at time t = 0.
Calculate the value of Q, in coulombs,
at time t = 1s.
Consider a solenoid with a diameter 0.04 m, length 7.6 m, 55 turns, and total resistance 0.6 Ω. The solenoid is connected to a DC source so that a constant potential difference 9.7 V is created at the solenoid’s ends. Find the absolute value of the heat energy dissipated by the solenoid after it is disconnected from the DC source. Use the free space permeability μ0 = 4 π ×10−7 H/m = 1.257×10−6 H/m.
