Photosynthesis occurs in the presence of light, and water is converted to oxygen by oxidation and NADP+ is reduced to NADPH.

NADP+ + H2 NADPH + H+ + 12O2 

NADH is oxidized to NAD+, while oxygen is reduced to water. The reaction is given as :

NADH + 12O2 + H+ NAD+ + H2
