In the Figure Q22.2 in the textbook, the bulb is connected between the battery terminals. That is, one terminal of the bulb is connected to the higher potential of the battery (battery’s positive terminal) and other terminal is connected to the lower potential of the battery (battery’s negative terminal).

The potential difference in the battery aids the electrons to move from lower potential to the higher potential, and then higher potential of the battery to the bulb’s filament, and subsequently from bulb’s filament to the lower potential of the battery. Therefore, the battery-bulb circuit is closed and due to the movement of electrons the bulb’s filament becomes hot, and consequently the bulb will gives the light.
