Add, subtract, or multiply the following signed numbers: ( − 7 ) _ _ ( + 6 )

To determine

The value of the expression when the provided signed numbers (7)___(+6) are added, subtracted or multiplied.

Explanation

Given Information:

The provided statement is:

“Add, subtract, or multiply the signed number (7)__(+6) ”.

Consider the expression:

(7)__(+6)

In order to perform addition of two different signed numbers, first thing is to obtain the difference of their absolute values. And, use the sign of the number which has the higher absolute value to represent the final result. That is,

(7)+(+6)=1

Now, in order to perform the subtraction of two signed numbers, the sign of the number being subtracted must be changed and then added in accordance with the rules for addition of signed numbers
