The difference between zymogen and proenzyme is to be explained.
Concept Introduction:
Phosphorylase is an allosteric enzyme which catalyzes the reaction involving the addition of phosphate to a substrate or an acceptor. Allosteric enzymes are those enzymes that alter their conformation when an effector or regulator molecule binds to them. Binding of the regulator to allosteric enzyme results in the changed ability of the enzyme to bind with the substrate at its active site. Glycogen phosphorylase is one of the phosphorylase enzymes.
