The BMR (Basal metabolic rate) is defined as the kilocalories per square meter of the body surface per hour (kcal/m2/h). It is often described as the “energy cost of living”. The BMR is influenced by several factors, thus it is usually measured under standard circumstances like room temperature should be between 20-250C. It is also influenced by the body surface area, age and gender.
