Add, subtract, or multiply the following signed numbers: ( 0 ) _ _ ( − 4 )

To determine

The value of the expression when the provided signed numbers (0)___(4) are added, subtracted or multiplied.

Explanation

Given Information:

The provided statement is:

“Add, subtract, or multiply the signed number (0)__(4) ”.

Consider the expression:

(0)__(4)

In order to add a negative number with a positive number, first thing is to obtain the difference of their absolute values. And then sign of the number having the larger absolute value must be placed before the result. That is,

(0)+(4)=4

Now, in order to subtract two signed numbers, the sign of the number being subtracted must be changed and then added in accordance with the rules for addition of signed numbers
