Chapter 24, Problem 2TYU
Summary Introduction

Introduction: Virus is a small organism with a size of 20 to 300 nm variability. Structurally virus contains limited parts. The presence of the host is not mandatory for the survival of the virus. During the absence of the host, the virus suppresses their activities and acts as a non-living organism. Thus, the virus is known as the connecting link between the living and non-living organisms.

If you were to argue that viruses are living organisms, what features of viral structure and function might you use in your argument?
After a positive strand RNA virus ( Such as Coronaviruses) enters the host cell, the RNA is translated by ribosomes to create proteins associated with the virus (Such as, for example, the surface antigens like E and Spike proteins). How then, would the genetic material itself be replicated to be incorporated into the new viruses?.
Viruses consist of either DNA or RNA wrapped inside a protein coat. Are viruses considered alive?   A. Yes, because they contain DNA.   B. Yes, because they contain DNA and proteins.   C. No, because they lack carbohydrates and lipids.   D. No, because some viruses use RNA as the main genetic molecule.
