Textbook Problem

  1. (a) Describe what occurs in the process of transcription.
  2. (b) Describe what occurs in the process of translation.

(a)

Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

The  processes of transcription has to be described.

Concept introduction: Transcription is the process in which synthesis of RNA take place by using DNA as template strand.

Previous literature suggest that RNA is the intermediate between DNA and protein:

DNA was present in nucleus and  proteins were form in cytoplasm and RNA synthesis takes place in nucleus and exported to cytoplasm.

Explanation

Transcription is the synthesis of RNA by using DNA as template strand.

Factor necessary for transcription are RNA polymerase (catalyze the synthesis of RNA from DNA template), Core enzyme (Three subunits), Holoenzyme and Sigma factors.

Accessory transcription activator protein will help RNA polymerase to begin transcription via protein-protein interaction and activator protein and some promoters of transcription require transcriptional activators which enhance the rate of transcription which is not necessary. A Gene containing template DNA Promoter helps in initiation of reaction...

(b)

Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

The  processes of translation has to be described.

Concept introduction:

Translation is the process in which protein synthesis take place. The genetic code include within an mRNA molecule interpret to produce the specific sequence of amino acid in a polypeptide chain.
