In replication each strand of DNA unwinds through origin of replication and thus new complementary strand developed with complementary bases between them. This Dna get converts into RNA through the process transcription. The produced mRNA contains both exon and introns after which Splicing of RNA results in removal of introns and thus mature mrna contains only exons which get converted to protein through translation.
