4.6 billion years ago, the earth emerged in the Milky Way galaxy. The earth was hit regularly by asteroids. The phenomena started to decrease and stopped after 700 million years. The earth, then, became suitable for life forms as the impacts of the asteroids were reduced. The first life form was present around 3 billion years ago.
