The anabolic mutants are not able to use thechemicals present in the glucose minimal salt media to grow. In case, this media lacks microbes that grew on the complete media, then it can be concluded the microbes that are not able to grow are the mutants or the auxotrophs. So, the colonies that appear in only the complete nutrient plate can be isolated for the isolation of mutants.

So, for the isolation purpose both media are important.
